German industrial output rebounds in July

Xinhua, September 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

German industrial output returned to growth in July following a drop in previous month, official data showed Monday.

The statistics signaled industrial activities in Europe's biggest economy remained dynamic. Compared with previous month, output of German factories increased by 0.7 percent in July following a monthly drop of 0.9 percent in June, data from German federal statistical office Destatis showed.

Growth was led by robust activities in construction sector which saw a jump of 3.2 percent in its output. Energy production increased by 1.9 percent and manufacturing output was up by 0.3 percent.

"Overall, the slightly positive industrial activity continues," said the German Economy Ministry in a statement, adding that high demand from abroad filled order books and "companies remain confident."

The German economy regained impetus from foreign trade and expanded by 0.4 percent in the second quarter of 2015.

The German central bank forecast growth would remain strong in the second half of the year with support from both abroad and domestic markets. Endit
