Peruvian veteran Pizzaro rejoins Werder Bremen

Free agent Claudio Pizzaro joined his former club Werder Bremen for the third time, the Bundesliga outfit conformed via the club's official homepage on Monday.
After a long back and forth Werder Bremen signed the 36-year-old striker, who put pen to paper on a one-year deal that keeps him with the "Green-Whites" until June 2016. It is the third time that Claudio Pizzaro slips on a Bremen jersey after 1999 and 2008.
"His qualities speak for itself. Now its time that we give him the opportunity to get to know his new team mates on the pitch," Bremen head coach Viktor Skripnik said.
Bremen's head coach already played as a professional, from 1999 until 2001, together with Pizzaro.
The captain of Peru's national team is the foreign top-scorer in Germany's soccer history with 176 goals in 383 appearances overall. The six-time German champion as well as German Cup winner provided overall 89 goals in 159 games for the "Green-Whites".
"I am pleased to be here again. It will be a challenging task and I hope I can help the team with my experiences," Pizzaro said.
The 36-year-old striker played the last three years at Bayern Munich where his contract expired lately. Pizzaro is a prolific striker and crowd pleaser, who gained a number of experiences in different competitions. The Peruvian made 73 appearances in UEFA Champions League (21 goals) and 31 appearances in UEFA Europa League (21 goals) as well as 49 games in the German Cup (28 goals). His is, in addition, since 1999 part of Peru's national squad where he scored 20 goals in 81 caps ever since.
Werder Bremen encounter Hoffenheim at the fourth round in Bundesliga on September 13. Endi
