Myanmar to open more border trade points with Thailand

Myanmar will open three more border trade points with Thailand aimed at promoting border trade with the neighboring country in the southeast, military-run Myawaddy Daily reported Monday.

Of the three border trade points, two will lie in southern Taninthayi region and one will lie in eastern Kayah state bordering Thailand.

Myanmar authorities are negotiating with concerned neighboring country to officially open the three border trade points which will bring the total trade points with neighboring countries to 15.

At present Myanmar has a total of 12 border trade points, of which four link with China, four with Thailand, two with India and two with Bangladesh.

Myanmar's border trade mainly depend on Muse border trade point linking with China.

Myanmar's border trade amounted to 2.698 billion U.S.dollars in the first five months (April-Aug.) of the fiscal year 2015-16, according to official figures of Ministry of Commerce. Endi
