Security forces in Pakistan have foiled a major terror bid in the southwestern city of Quetta ahead of the country's Defense Day celebrations, security officials said Saturday.
Pakistan will celebrate Defense Day on Sunday in memory of its war with India in 1965.
Functions will be held in military areas across the country to pay homage to those who lost lives in one of the three wars with India.
The army spokesman said the security forces thwarted a big terrorists' attempt in Quetta planned for the day.
"The security forces arrested one terrorist and recovered six kilograms of explosive material and mortar bomb during the operation," a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
"The operation against terrorists was carried out on intelligence reports," it said.
The army claimed that the arrested terrorist has admitted his " links with Indian intelligence agency RAW."
He also confessed to carrying out two bomb explosions in Quetta which claimed lives of many innocent lives.
Indian officials were not immediately available to comment. Endi
