China gives 12 scholarships to Comorian students

Xinhua, September 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese government has offered scholarships to 12 Comorian students to pursue their higher education in China, a diplomatic source told Xinhua on Tuesday.

A ceremony to bid the students farewell and wish them a splendid stay in China was organized on the same day at the Chinese Embassy in Moroni, the Comorian capital.

Charge d'Affairs at the Chinese Embassy Guo Lin recalled that since 1980s, China has been giving governmental scholarships to Comorian students.

The students who were selected this year will train in various disciplines that include medicine, economics and agriculture.

Speaking during the ceremony, Comoros' National Education Minister Athoumane Ali hailed the Sino-Comoros relationship that dates back 40 years.

"The provision of scholarships each year demonstrates China's friendship and generosity towards the Comoros Union, as well as the importance that China accords to the islands," he said.

The minister urged the students who had won the scholarships to concentrate on their studies and challenged them to get inspired by what they will see in China. Enditem
