French president pledges to do everything to identify Paris fire' causes

Xinhua, September 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

French President Francois Hollande on Wednesday vowed to dig out the causes of a fatal blaze in Paris northern suburbs, according to his office.

"Everything is done to shed light on the cause of this drama and get all the necessary information about what happened," Hollande said.

A fire broke out at around 5 a.m. local time ( 0300 GMT) in the 18th district of French capital in a private building, killing eight people, including two children. It started on the ground floor before spreading into the stairwell, local medias reported.

A hundred firefighters were mobilized to contain the blaze that was under control, the Elysee said.

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said an investigation is ongoing, adding "it's too early to determine the cause of the fire." Endi
