Federer storms through US Open first round

Second-seeded Roger Federer cruised past Leonardo Mayer of Argentina 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the U.S. Open here on Tuesday.

Federer, the 17 Grand Slam champions, won 84 percent of first-serve points and six of nine break-point opportunities.

"I think I was better prepared here this time around," Federer said, " I feel good now. I actually wasn't so confident yesterday and today. I just felt like maybe cound be one of those matches I just counldn't see it coming."

"So thankfully I took this match extremely serious. I thought at times almost I was taking it a bit too serious," Federer added. Endi
