One soldier of the Turkish security forces was killed on Tuesday in gun fire attack in southern Turkey from Syrian side of the border under the control the Islamic State (IS) militants, a Turkish military statement said.

One Turkish soldier was seriously wounded in attack on military post in Kilis province of southern Turkey, said the statement, adding that the wounded soldier died later in hospital.

The statement said the Turkish military has lost contact with another Turkish soldier during the clashes, adding that military operation is continuing to find the missing.

On July 20, a suicide bomber from IS killed 34 and injured 104 activists in the town of Suruc in Sanliurfa province of southern Turkey bordering Syria.

The Turkish government has detained hundreds of suspected IS militants in Turkey since early 2015 and the military recently staged joint operations with the U.S. against the IS targets in Syria. Endit
