ANKARA -- A police officer was killed in an ambush by the rebels of the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in Igdir province of eastern Turkey on Tuesday, private Dogan news agency reported.
Police officer Olgun Kurbanoglu walked toward a military post in the Karakoyunlu town of Igdir Tuesday morning after a child informed him of "two suspects" in the area, according to the report. (Turkey-PKK-Conflicts)

NEW DELHI -- At least 15 people were killed and 12 others injured on Tuesday when a bus rolled down a 200- meter deep gorge in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, said police.

MADRID -- The number of victims in the explosion at a fireworks manufacturer based outside of Zaragoza, Spain rose to six on Tuesday morning as another body was found in the wreckage.

NAIROBI -- The number of acutely and severely malnourished children in Somalia is likely to increase to 343,400 and 63,400 respectively through the end of the year, a UN-backed food security assessment says.
Widespread acute malnutrition persists across Somalia and large numbers of people will be acutely food insecure through December, according to the Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit for Somalia (FSNAU) managed by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. (UN-Somali-Famine)

BANGKOK -- Thai police have arrested an important suspect in a recent deadly bombing attack at Erawan Shrine in downtown Bangkok, police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri said on Tuesday.
