Singapore stocks close 1.17 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 34.50 points, or 1.17 percent, to close at 2,921.44.

A total of 1.31 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 36 billion Singapore dollars (960.1 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 270 to 178, while 495 others finished unchanged.
