Japan's unemployment rate improves to 3.3 pct in July

Jobless rate in Japan improved to 3. 3 percent in July from a reading of 3.4 percent in the previous month, according to Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Friday.

The ministry said in a preliminary report that the number of jobless people declined a seasonally adjusted 0.9 percent from June to 2.2 million, adding that the number of those leaving jobs "involuntarily" for reasons dropped 4.7 percent to 610,000, the lowest level since 2002.

The jobless rate for men dropped 0.1 percentage point to 3.5 percent, while that for female rose 0.1 point to 3.2 percent.

Meanwhile, separate data released by the welfare ministry Friday showed that the country's job availability improved to 1.21 in July from 1.19 in June, meaning that 121 positions were available for every 100 job seekers. Endi
