British former teacher jailed for secret filming of pupils

Xinhua, August 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

The former teacher of a boarding school in the southwestern port city of Bristol was given a three years and nine months jail sentence on Thursday by a local court, after admitting to making indecent images of children.

Jonathan Thomson-Glover, 53, from Wadebridge in Cornwall, is a former teacher at Clifton College.

He was arrested by police last summer after the National Crime Agency contacted Devon and Cornwall Police about computer IP addresses being used to download indecent images of children, according to Devon and Cornwall Police.

The police said they found a large number of tapes, discs, laptops and hard drives at two properties in August 2014. Investigations showed that more than 300 tapes were taken by covert cameras at Clifton College and a property in Wadebridge.

"Jonathan Thomson-Glover has been jailed for offences of making, taking, and possessing indecent images. These offences included covert filming and the downloading of indecent images of children from the Internet," said Det Insp Andrea Kingdon.

Kingdon said more than 130 victims were identified during the investigation. Local media reported that more than 120 pupils were filmed over a 16-year period, and the footage of those tapes lasted about 2,500 hours. The victims of the case were aged between 12 and 17.

Jonathan Thomson-Glover pleaded guilty on Thursday to 36 charges of making, taking and possessing indecent images of children at Taunton Crown Court.

He was ordered to sign the sex offenders register and banned from working with children. Endit
