"Tokyo Trial" film screened in Cambodia

Xinhua, August 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

"Tokyo Trial", a Chinese film depicting the trial of Japanese World War II criminals, was shown here Thursday evening, attracting dozens of Chinese spectators and Cambodians.

The film was screened at the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh.

"It aims to contribute to celebrating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II," Tan Qingsheng, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia, said before the screening.

China will hold a military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Beijing on Sept. 3, which will be attended by 30 heads of state and government leaders, including Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

The attendees also include government representatives from 19 countries and heads of 10 international organizations, including United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. "The upcoming China's V-Day parade is not targeting Japan, but remembering history, cherishing the memory of China's revolutionary martyrs, upholding peace and creating the future,"he said.

Produced in 2006, "Tokyo Trial", shot by Chinese director Gao Quanshu, recounts the court proceedings against 28 top Japanese war criminals at the International Military Tribunal for the Far East after Japan's surrender in World War II. Endi
