Turkish security forces found 250 kg of explosives in the northeast late Wednesday, private Dogan news agency reported Thursday.

The explosives were discovered in a patrol between the towns of Digor and Kagizman in Kars province, according to the report.

Meanwhile, militants of the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) late Wednesday attacked an armored police vehicle with rockets and heavy weapons at a street in Hacibekir, Van province in eastern Turkey, injuring two police officers, the same agency reported on Thursday.

More than 60 Turkish security forces have been killed in PKK attacks in eastern and southeastern Turkey since July.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to continue military operations against the PKK until it is disarmed. "We will persevere in our struggle until they lay down and bury their arms, and until the last terrorist leaves the country," he said on Aug. 11. Endi
