BiH, Montenegro to sign border agreement

Xinhua, August 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Montenegro will sign the border agreement on Wednesday in Vienna, local media reported on Tuesday.

The signature will be held on the sidelines of the Western Balkan Summit in Vienna, according to Fena, the Federal News Agency of BiH.

It will be signed by BiH Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak and Minister of Interior of Montenegro Rasko Konjevic.

BiH Presidency Chairman Dragan Covic, President of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic and President of Austria Heinz Fisher will be also present.

BiH and Montenegro began bilateral negotiations on their borders in 2008. In November, 2014, a BiH parliament member proposed a resolution calling for Bosnia's parliament to reject the prepared draft border agreement with Montenegro and establish a commission on the Sutorina area.

Some Bosnian officials claimed that the small area was"illegally" grabbed by Montenegro in 1945, and should go back to BiH. The BiH parliament rejected the resolution, paving the way for the two sides to seal the border agreement. Endit
