(Sports)Sri Lanka offers diplomatic post to iconic cricketer

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday offered cricket legend Kumar Sangakkara a diplomatic post to Britain after the latter retired from international cricket.

Sirisena made the offer at the farewell ceremony held for the cricketer in capital Colombo.

Sangakkara, who started his career in 2000, announced his retirement from international cricket in June and was recently appointed by Sirisena as the Brand Ambassador of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board.

On Monday, Sirisena, in a surprising statement, offered the star cricketer the post of Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Britain, which shocked Sangakkara saying he would make a decision after discussing with the president. Endi
