Flood kills at least eight in northern Turkey

Eight people were killed and two went missing on Monday due to heavy floods and landslides in Black Sea province of Artvin in Turkey, said Artvin governor Kemal Cirit.
One of the lost was a child, Governor Cirit was quoted as saying by local Hurriyet.
In the heaviest rainfall of recent years, the province has received 255 kg of rain per square meter, he added.
Meteorological experts forecast that the rain will continue through Monday night and clouds were about to reach Rize, Giresun and Ordu provinces.
Search and rescue teams arrived in Hopa town of Artvin province where the most of the damage occurred,the local NTV news channel reported, saying that 17 people are injured after the disaster.
Some vehicles were seen moving, cascading water knocking down trees, in news footage, the report said, adding that power breakouts in Hopa and Arhavi towns of Artvin. Endit
