2 killed in bomb attack in N. Afghanistan

Xinhua, August 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two civilians were killed and four others wounded in a bomb attack in northern Afghan province of Takhar on Monday, an official said.

The attack took place when explosive attached to a motorcycle went off in Ishkamish district local bazaar at around mid-day, killing two persons, the provincial government spokesman, Khalil Aseer, told Xinhua.

The injured were shifted to the district hospital, the official said, adding that the obvious target of the blast was a security forces' convoy passing by the area.

Earlier on Monday, a policeman was killed and two others were wounded in a similar attack in neighboring Jawzjan province, the provincial police chief Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani told Xinhua.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since mid-April when the militant group launched its so-called annual spring offensive in different places of the militancy-plagued country which had claimed hundreds of lives including militants, security personnel and civilians. Endi
