Mexico name Brazilian Ferretti as interim coach

Xinhua, August 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Brazilian Ricardo Ferretti has accepted an offer to coach Mexico's national team on an interim basis, the country's football federation said on Friday.

Ferretti will take charge of El Tricolor for their next four matches following the dismissal of Miguel Herrera last month.

"We don't have a contract but we have Ricardo's word that he will coach the team for four matches at the most," Mexico's federation chief Decio de Maria was quoted as saying by newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.

Ferretti, who became a Mexican citizen in 2006, will coach his adopted country's national team against Trinidad and Tobago on September 4, Argentina on September 8, the USA on October 10 and another opponent that is yet to be confirmed.

The 61-year-old is currently the coach of Tigres UANL, who he led to the final of the Copa Libertadores - Latin America's premier club competition - earlier this year. Endi
