Former police chief prosecuted for graft

Xinhua, August 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former vice minister of Public Security Li Dongsheng has been prosecuted for accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) announced Friday.

Tianjin People's Procuratorate filed the case with the city's No. 2 Intermediate People's Court after prosecutors completed their investigation, according to the SPP.

Prosecutors believe Li took advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others, and extorted and accepted "a huge amount" of bribes. Li will now stand trial charged with accepting bribes.

Li was formerly a member of the 18th CPC Central Committee and was also the deputy head of a central leading group for cult prevention.

In 2014, Li was removed from his post and was expelled from the Communist Party of China. Endit
