Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong on Thursday met with Sun Guoxiang, special envoy of Chinese foreign ministry on Asian affairs, discussing bilateral ties and regional cooperation, a spokesman said.

"Both sides expressed their satisfactions with excellent ties and cooperation between the two countries and discussed ways to further strengthen and expand relationship and cooperation for mutual benefits," Cambodian foreign ministry's spokesman Chum Sounry told reporters after the meeting.

They also talked about China-proposed Belt and Road initiative and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as well as Lancang- Mekong River cooperation.

According to the spokesman, Hor Namhong, who is also a deputy prime minister, suggested China constantly update Cambodia on the progress of the initiative and the AIIB so that Cambodia would be able to prepare its projects for loans from the upcoming AIIB. Endi
