The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday delivered a message to South Korea, saying that it would launch military actions unless South Korea stops propaganda broadcasts in border areas within 48 hours.
The General Staff Department of the Korean People's Army of the DPRK sent the letter to the South Korean Defense Ministry via the western military hotline at about 5 p.m. (0800 GMT), the Seoul ministry said in a press release.
The message urged the South Korean military to stop propaganda broadcasts within 48 hours from 5 p.m. and remove all available facilities for psychological warfare.
If the South Korean military does not follow the call, the DPRK forces will launch military actions, the department warned.
The letter was sent after the DPRK forces fired a shell toward frontline army units of South Korea near the border with the DPRK. The South Korean military fired back scores of shells toward the DPRK side.
No damages and casualties have been reported yet. Endi
