Controversial Sydney deputy mayor faces police probe of illegal replica gun

Xinhua, August 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

A controversial Sydney deputy mayor is being investigated by police for owning an illegal replica handgun, it was revealed on Thursday.

The millionaire, 28, and his wife Aysha enraged neighbors by blocking local streets without approval staging for their huge wedding on Saturday, with a parade of 37 million U.S. dollars worth of luxury cars and close to a thousand people filling the street with drumming bands and a criminal bikie gang.

There was a council inquiry on Wednesday night by his fellow counselors - but they only fined him 176 U.S. dollars and he also kept his position.

This further angered residents who had gathered to watch the council inquiry into his unapproved blocking of their streets.

But it emerged he had a much bigger problem on Thursday after reports that his wife had been found with his gun clearly visible in one of his cars.

Possession of such a weapon carries a maximum 14-year jail term and police have launched an investigation. Endi
