Singapore stocks close 0.58 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 17. 70 points, or 0.58 percent, to close at 3,049.65.

A total of 1.53 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 17 billion Singapore dollars (833 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 354 to 111, while 475 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 46.90 points, or 1.51 percent, to close at 3, 067.35 on Monday. Endi
