Evandro scored in second-half injury time as Coritiba defeated four-time champions Vasco da Gama 1-0 in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.

The result at the Maracana stadium lifted Coritiba out of the relegation zone to 17th while Vasco remained last in the 20-team standings.

Also on Saturday, Santos held hosts Atletico Paranaense to a 0-0 draw. Atletico were reduced to 10 men in the 94th minute when Alan Ruschel was shown a second yellow card for a bad foul.

Despite the result, Atletico rose one place to sixth while Santos also climbed a spot to 11th.

Sunday's fixtures include Palmeiras' home clash with Flamengo and Internacional's away duel against last year's champions Cruzeiro. Endi
