Xinhua, August 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least 23 people were wounded Thursday in a suicide car bombing in eastern Afghanistan's province of Logar, an official said. "The attack occurred along a main road in Mohammad Agha district when a police vehicle was passing the area around midday. The injured included 15 civilians and eight members of Afghan Local Police (ALP),"a district security source told Xinhua anonymously.

The injured were shifted to district hospital where some wounded remained in critical condition, he said.

The government established the ALP, or community police, in 2010 to protect villages and districts around the country where army and police have limited presence.

The attacker was killed on the spot, according to the source.

No group has claimed responsibility yet for the attack, but the Taliban insurgent group mostly claims responsibility for such attacks.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since mid-April when the militant group launched a yearly rebel offensive against Afghan security forces. Endi
