At least nine people have been killed in inter-communal clashes in Tana River county in Kenya's coastal region, officials confirmed Wednesday.

ABUJA -- At least 48 people were killed Tuesday in a blast which rocked a local market in Damboa district of Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno, a security source and a witness said.

More than 40 people sustained various degrees of injuries by the blast which occurred in the afternoon at Sabon Gari community, the unnamed local security source told Xinhua. (Nigeria-Blast)

BRUSSELS -- The emergence of China is one of the leading contributors for the superb export performance of Germany in the 2000s compared to other European countries, a recent report by the Brussels-based think tank Bruegel said.

Germany is Europe's export superstars, with an increase of 154 percent in exports between 2000 and 2013 compared to 127 percent in Spain, 98 percent in Britain, 79 percent in France and 72 percent in Italy, according to the report. (China-Germany-Economy)

CANBERRA -- Japan must face its wartime history by upholding the Murayama Statement unambiguously in order to move forward, Kazuhiko Togo, a professor of international politics at Kyoto Sangyo University, writes.

In an article published in the latest Eas Asia Forum, a weekly online magazine by Australian National University, Togo writes that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has long stated that he wants to assert Japan's positive and creative policies and its vision for the 21st Century in his statement. KABUL -- Some 15 police were killed following an armed attack in southern Afghan province of Helmand overnight Tuesday, reported local media on Wednesday.
