LME base metals prices drop on Tuesday

The base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) closed lower on Tuesday.

China's currency fell sharply in value on Tuesday following the central bank's decision to improve its "central parity system" to better reflect market development in the exchange rate between the Chinese yuan against the U.S. dollar.

The three-month unofficial copper price decreased 110 U.S. dollars, or 2.09 percent, to 5,147 U.S. dollars per tonne.

The three-month unofficial aluminium price lost 26.25 U.S. dollars, or 1.63 percent, to 1,584 U.S. dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial lead price decreased 28 U.S. dollars, or 1.60 percent, to 1,720 U.S. dollars a tonne.

Besides, the three-month unofficial zinc price lost 74 U.S. dollars, or 3.91 percent, to 1,820 U.S. dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial nickel price lost 427.5 U.S. dollars, or 3.83 percent, to 10,737.5 U.S. dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial tin price lost 400 U.S. dollars, or 2.56 percent, to 15,250 U.S. dollars a tonne. Enditem
