Xinhua, August 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bayern Munich eliminated fifth-division side FC Noettingen 3-1 whereas fourth-division club Jena flabbergasted Hamburg 3-2 in overtime at the first round of DFB Cup on Sunday.

German giants Bayern Munich overpowered resilient FC Noettingen 3-1 on the road. The visitors opened the scoring with just five minutes into the encounter as Arturo Vidal stepped up to convert a handball penalty. The underdogs remained unimpressed and sensationally restored parity eleven minutes later as Niklas Hecht-Zirpel slotted home a rebound from Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

However, it was a short-lived joy by the hosts as Bayern' s Mario Goetze provided his side the 2-1 lead moments later following a low shot from the edge of the box. Pep Guardiola' s men were not done with the scoring as Robert Lewandowski killed the game with the 3-1 at the 26th minute.

Bayern lacked in penetration at the second half meanwhile FC Noettingen staged a well-positioned defence to deny the visitors more goals.

Fourth-division side Carl Zeiss Jena flabbergasted Hamburg 3-2 in overtime to eliminate the "HSV" at the first round of the German Cup. Hamburg came back twice but Jena' s Johannes Pieles headed home the 3-2 winner in overtime to book the ticket for the second round.

The hosts caught a fairy tale start as Justin Gerlach hammered home a dead ball from 30 meters to break the deadlock with 15 minutes into the game. The "HSV" recovered after the break as Ivica Olic tapped in Ivo Ilicevic' s cross at the 48th minute.

Carl Zeiss Jena remained unfazed and responded ten minutes later through Velimir Jovanovic, who marked the 2-1 following Maximilian Schlegel' s assist. Jena tried to protect their lead to the end but for all that they got punished, as Hamburg was able to score the last grasp equalizer through Michael Gregoritsch at the 94th minute.

Nevertheless, courageous Jena kept it bowling and grabbed the lead for the third time when Johannes Pieles headed home the 3-2 winner at the 106th minute.

Borussia Dortmund did not show any weakness as Thomas Tuchel men wrapped up a 2-0 victory over third division side Chemnitzer FC thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The "BVB" dominated the encounter most of the time hence Aubameyang marked the opener with 25 minutes into the game. The Gabon international had all time and space inside the box to head home Mkhitaryan' s cross.

The hosts turned up after the restart thus Dortmund had to wait until the 83rd minute before Mkhitaryan hammered home Aubameyang' s pass to seal the deal and the second round.

Elsewhere, third division team SpVgg Unterhaching upset Bundesliga newcomers FC Ingolstadt 2-1 by courtesy of Markus Einsiedler.

Hannover edged fourth division side Hessen Kassel 2-0 thanks to the goals by Salif Sane and Kenan Karaman and Mainz defeated third division side Energie Cottbus 3-0 to advance into the next round of the DFB Cup.

The following fixtures conclude the first round on Monday: Arminia Bielefeld host Hertha Berlin and St. Pauli face Borussia Monchengladbach. Endi
