Childhood disease leave Neymar KO for two weeks

Xinhua, August 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

FC Barcelona's Brazilian striker, Neymar will miss Tuesday's final of the European Supercup against Sevilla and also the final of the Spanish Supercup against Athletic Club Bilbao as the result of an illness normally associated with children.

The club has confirmed that Neymar is suffering from mumps and will need a fortnight to recover from the illness.

The news comes a matter of days after he made his first appearance of the pre-season in the Joan Gamper Trophy which saw him and Leo Messi add extra sparkle to a side that had at times looked slightly below their best in other preparation matches and help Barca to a 3-0 win against Italian side Roma

Neymar should be fit to start the new BBVA Primera Liga campaign when Barca will again face Athletic Club, but his absence could have a short term effect on the future of Pedro Rodriguez.

Pedro, who wants more first team action, is thought to be close to a move to Manchester United, but the club will be unwilling to let him move while Neymar is missing, although if Manchester United were to pay his buyout clause they would be able to do nothing to stop him. Endi
