Uganda Vice President Edward Ssekandi has praised the national team She Cranes for their impressive show at the on-going 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.

Speaking to Xinhua on Saturday after Uganda She Cranes won their second straight game, Ssekandi said the team is carrying the national flag high and all Ugandans should keep their fingers crossed so that the team can reach the later stages of the event.

"I am very impressed with this team because they have been struggling to get money and even make trips for some tournaments," he said. "But they have showed that they can match with the other highly ranked teams."

On Friday Uganda She Cranes beat Zambia 74-38 before humbling highly ranked Fiji 61-40 in their second game Group D game played at the Allphones Arena at Sydney Olympic Park. Uganda's captain Peace Proscovia scored 37 points, while Racheal Nanyonga picked 24 points.

The win means that the Ugandan teams has now booked a ticket to the qualification stage. They join another African team Malawi, England and top world number one Australia who have also picked two wins at the event.

Uganda will play their last group game against Wales on Monday. But before facing Uganda, the fancied Wales team will first battle Zambia on Sunday. The World Cup which has attracted 16 nations will climax on August 16. Endi
