At least 12 people, including five soldiers, two civilians and one UN staff, have been killed after unknown militants on Friday attacked a hotel in central Mali, Malian officials said Saturday.

Four hostages have been freed from the Byblos hotel used by UN staff, according to the Directorate of Information and Public Affairs of the Malian Army, adding that four militants were also killed in the raid. (Mali-Militant Attack)

KIGALI -- A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck western Rwanda Friday with a depth of 100 km, leaving four people injured and six homes destroyed, according to an official statement.

The hardest-hit area was in the mountains and populated zones located in 8 districts in the Western Rwanda on the shore of lake Kivu close to Rwanda's borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo,the Rwandan ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs said. (Rwanda-Earthquake)

PARIS -- Three people were reportedly killed when a passenger train crashed into a car in northwestern France on Friday night.

NEW DELHI -- At least 12 laborers have been killed and 15 others sustained injuries in a wall collapse in the northern Indian state of Haryana, a senior police official said Saturday.

"The mishap happened when an under-construction wall of a stone crusher unit collapsed in Dholera in the state's Mahendergarh district Friday," he said, on condition of anonymity. (India-Wall Collapse)

KABUL -- The attack on a base of NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission in Kabul on Friday night left nine people including a RS service member dead, said a statement of the alliance released here Saturday.
