Chicago corn, soybeans lower on export data; wheat extends gains

Xinhua, August 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) corn, soybeans futures were pressured down by disappointing U.S. export figures Thursday, while wheat extended gains, according to analysts.

The corn contract for December delivery fell 2.75 cents, or 0. 72 percent, to close at 3.805 U.S. dollars per bushel. September wheat delivery gained 5 cents, or 1 percent, to close at 5.07 dollars per bushel. November soybeans lost 10 cents, or 1.05 percent, to close at 9.4325 dollars per bushel.

A report released Thursday by the United States Department of Agriculture showed a net cancellation of 500,000 metric tons on U. S. soybean purchases and a net cancellations of 2,700 metric tons on corns for the marketing year 2014/15. Analysts said that these data were out of market expectations.

The export sales of U.S. wheat in the latest week totaled at 838,500 metric tons for the marketing year of 2015/16, a record high and more than double the trade expectations, according to the analysts. Endite
