Andrzej Duda sworn in as president of Poland

Andrzej Duda was sworn in as the new president of Poland on Thursday morning in front of the National Assembly.

Former Polish presidents, including Bronislaw Komorowski, whom Duda is replacing, members of both chambers of the Polish parliament, former Prime Ministers, diplomats, representatives of constitutional organs attended the event.

Duda vowed to remain faithful to the Polish constitution, protect the security of the country and wellbeing of the citizens.

After taking the oath, Duda made his first speech as the president of Poland. He presented the major tasks and issues he'd engage in during his term of office and assured he'd fulfill the promises made during the campaign.

Later on Thursday, Duda will participate in further inauguration ceremonies, including taking the supreme command over the armed forces, receiving the insignia of the Order of White Eagle and the Order of Polonia Instituta, as well as making a public appearance in front of Presidential Palace. Endit
