Tokyo stocks open slightly lower following Wall St. losses

Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower in early trading Wednesday following overnight losses on Wall Street.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 30.82 points, or 0.15 percent, from Tuesday to 20,489.54. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 2.96 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,656.87.

Decliners were led by transportation equipment, steel products and shipping. Endi
