Italy to spend 15 million euros modernizing Albanian seaport

Xinhua, August 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Italy has decided to fund a 15-million-euro (16.4 million U.S. dollars) project to expand and modernize a seaport in southwestern Albania, Albanian Daily News reported Tuesday.

The project aims to modernize Vlora seaport and expand its processing capacity to deal with an increased influx of travelers and goods, said the report.

It is part of a wider program undertaken by Cooperazione Italiana in the field of transport and infrastructure in Albania with a total value of more than 100 million euros (109.5 millon dollars). Cooperazione Italiana is an Italian institute dedicated to alleviating global poverty.

The master plan to transform Vlora seaport into a hub for anchoring and processing ferries will be in harmony with the other project for building a promenade on Lungomare Vlora waterfront and takes two to three years to complete, the report added. Endi
