An umbrella company in east China's Jiangxi Province has earned its place in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world's largest umbrella.

The umbrella of around 23 meters in diameter and 14.4 meters in height, has been certificated by Chinese representatives of Guinness World Records on Monday in Xingzi County of Jiangxi, the county's publicity department said.

The umbrella weighing 5.7 tonnes and standing in a plaza covers an area of 418 square meters, it said.

Previous world record was held by an umbrella with 17.06 meters diameter and 10.97 meters height in India in 2010. Endi
