Tajikistan to pay off debt to Uzbekistan by 2015

Tajikistan plans to pay off its debt to Uzbekistan by the end of 2015, the Tajik Finance Ministry said Monday.

Tajikistan's debt to Uzbekistan declined from 8.03 million U.S. dollars to 2.99 million dollars during the first half of this year.8

Meanwhile, Tajikistan's foreign debt fell 34.6 million dollars to 2.1 billion dollars, equivalent to 19.5 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).

Tajikistan will also pay down 610,000 dollars to Kazakhstan and 4.5 million dollars to Iran by the end of this year. Endi
