Tibet insurance revenues up 32.9 percent in H1

Xinhua, August 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tibet' insurance revenue has increased by 32.9 percent to reach 958 million yuan (about 154 million US dollars) in the first six months this year, according to officials who attended an insurance meeting on Sunday.

Xiang Junbo, chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, said Tibet's insurance businesses have seen an annual growth of 26.8 percent in the last five years. Insurance has reached 371 yuan per person.

The growth came as the Tibet Autonomous Regional government promoted agriculture-related insurance that cover crops, property, medical and life insurance for farmers.

Tibet now has 229 insurance agencies, doubling the number in 2010.

"The insurance service industry should better support the economic and social development of Tibet. Insurance capital should be beneficial to infrastructure building, industrial production and entrepreneurship in Tibet," Xiang said. Endi
