Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi met on Saturday with Sam Kutesa, president of the 69th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the UN's founding, Yang said, and China is willing to join the international community in promoting the September UN meetings for fruitful achievements, and maintaining world peace and development.

Kutesa congratulated China on winning the bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics and praised China for its support to the UN.

Kutesa said the UN is willing to work with China to promote the issues including the post-2015 development agenda, and the tackling of climate change. Endi
