Germany's benchmark DAX index closes up

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Friday went up slightly and closed at 11,308.99 points.

The blue-chip index fell sharply during the trading in the afternoon but managed to recover and added 51.84 points, or 0.46 percent. The speculation about a reversal of the interest rate in the United States is adding to selling pressures on investors, according to local analysts.

K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a supplier of standard and speciality fertilizers, topped the list of risers with an increase of 5.97 percent. HeidelbergCement AG advanced by 3.66 percent. BMW AG St added 1.6 percent. Siemens AG climbed by 1.47 percent. Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA, a health care company, went up by 1.26 percent.

On the other hand, Volkswagen AG Vz dropped by 1.38 percent. Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. lost 1.06 percent. Allianz SE plunged by 0.86 percent. Merck KGaA, a chemical, pharmaceutical and life science company, slipped by 0.74 percent and Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor producer, went down by 0.73 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.05 billion euros (around 4.41 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 374.4 million euros. (1 euro = 1.09 U.S. dollars) Endit
