IOC EB member Wu hails Beijing's 2022 victory

International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Wu Ching-Guo of Chinese Taipei on Friday hailed Beijing's victory in the 2022 Winter Olympics race as a "very high achievement".

Beijing beat Almaty 44-40 in the IOC voting, becoming the first city ever to host both summer and winter Olympics.

"A successful bid by Beijing and its bidding parter Zhangjiakou will broaden the appeal of winter sports in China and raise world winter sports to a new level," said Wu, who sits on the IOC executive board since 2012.
