Tokyo stocks rise 0.30 pct on strong domestic earnings

Tokyo stocks rose 0.30 percent on Friday as investor sentiment was boosted by strong domestic companies' April-June earnings.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 62.41 points, or 0.30 percent, from Thursday at 20,585.24. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 12.31 points, or 0.75 percent, to 1,659.52.

Gainers were led by utilities, financing business and air transport issues.

The turnover was 3,017.12 billion yen (about 24.35 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
