Germany's benchmark DAX index closes up

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday went up slightly and closed at 11,257.15 points.

Some leading German companies published positive financial figures, which however, failed to excite investors, according to local analysts. The blue-chip index added 45.3 points, or 0.4 percent.

Deutsche Bank AG topped the list of risers with an increase of 5.25 percent. Siemens AG advanced by 3.84 percent and adidas AG rose by 2.65 percent. Linde AG, an industrial gas company, climbed by 1.64 percent and Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz, a home care company, went up by 1.51 percent.

On the other hand, Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. lost 3.99 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa AG slipped by 2.84 percent. K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a supplier of standard and speciality fertilizers, plunged by 2.41 percent. Deutsche Telekom AG slid by 1.56 percent and Merck KGaA, a pharmaceutical, chemical and life science company, went down by 1.1 percent.

The turnover stood at 3.94 billion euros (around 4.29 billion U.S. dollars). Deutsche Bank AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 455.18 million euros. (1 euro = 1.09 U.S. dollars) Endit
