A large-scale event to boost cross-border cooperation between China's northeast Heilongjiang Province and Russia's Far Eastern region of Khabarovsk Krai was launched here on Thursday in the Russian region's capital city.
"Days of Heilongjiang Province in the Khabarovsk Krai" is "one of the biggest events in the history of bilateral relations" and such events increase economic growth in both Russia and China, Alexander Galushka, head of Khabarovsk Krai's Far East Development, said.
At the official opening ceremony, governor of Khabarovsk Krai Vyacheslav Shport said cross-border ties have become more active since the 1980s.
"Today Khabarovsk Krai and Heilongjiang Province cooperate on a wide range of areas," Shport said, saying that the area of investment enjoys good prospects thanks to Chinese companies' participation "in the implementation of projects under Advanced Special Economic Zones (ASEZs)."
More than 300 guests from China are participating in the event, which includes official, cultural and sports programs as well as a mutual presentation of tourism products. Endi
