Australian man arrested in 35-year bombing attack case

Xinhua, July 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

The man accused of carrying out a five-year reign of bombing terror against Australian Family Law Court judges and a church was refused bail when he faced 32 charges in a Sydney court on Thursday.

Leonard John Warwick, 68, was arrested in Sydney on Wednesday, 35 years after he allegedly began the attacks which left four people dead, including a judge, the wife of another and a church pastor.

It was widely reported on Thursday that Warwick was emotionless during his court appearance.

Police have said he was a suspect in the case for 30 years, but only had a circumstantial case which could not be proved in court.

But police alleged recent advances in forensic DNA testing had linked him directly to the crimes.

The Seven TV network reported a drop of his blood had been found on a piece of cardboard found at a crime scene, and new testing techniques allegedly found it was Warwick's. Endi
