One police officer was kidnapped by rebels of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey late Tuesday, local Bugun news reported on Wednesday.
Police officer Sedat Yabalak was kidnapped on the Diyarbakir-Bingol Highway in Lice town of Diyarbakir province in southeastern Turkey when he was driving with his family from northeastern Erzurum province to southeastern Sanliurfa province, according to the report.
The incident came four days after another police officer was kidnapped on the same highway. Officer Vedat Kaya was heading from southern Mardin province to eastern Mus province with his family on Friday when PKK militans allegedly stopped his car and kidnapped him after learning that he was a police officer.
Meanwhile, at least two children and a policeman were wounded in an attack staged by a group of PKK members in Turkey's southeastern Sirnak province on Tuesday, Bugun news has reported, saying the wounded were taken to Cizre State Hospital for treatment.
Turkey has recently launched airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) in Syria and the PKK camps in Iraq following a series of attacks targeting the Turkish civilians and security forces. Enditem
