Bollywood star Salman Khan has come out in support of a Muslim terrorist who is scheduled to be executed on July 30 for his role in the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.
The serial bomb blasts killed 260 people.
In a series of tweets, the 49-year-old actor has said that Yakub Memon should not be hanged and instead his brother Tiger Memon, the main accused in the case, should be executed. "Get tiger hang him. Parade him not his brother," Khan tweeted Saturday night.
"1 innocent man killed is killing the humanity," the actor, himself a convict in a hit-and-run case in Mumbai, added.
Yakub, 53, is to be hanged on July 30 for plotting the 1993 serial blasts and executing it. Of the 11 convicts in the case, he is the only one whose mercy petition was rejected.
Yakub, who has spent over two decades in jail, has claimed innocence and insisted the plan was hatched by his brother Tiger Memon and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim who have been on the run since the blasts. Endi
