1st LD: Turkey warplanes bomb PKK camps in northern Iraq

Xinhua, July 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Turkish warplanes bombed five targets of the camps of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq on Friday night, private NTV news channel reported.

Turkish F-16 fighters took off from the airbases of the Diyarbakir province in southeastern Turkey and bombed the PKK camps in the regions of Zap, Basyan, Bare, Avasin and Metina on Qandil Mountain in northern Iraq, according to the report.

The attacks followed air strikes into northern Syria, where Turkish fighter jets targeted Islamic State (IS) bases.

The report said that the Turkish warplanes, which all took off from their bases in Diyarbakir, had also set off on a separate but simultaneous mission for a second wave of attacks against the IS late Friday, after a first set of attacks earlier in the day. Endit
