9 killed by lightning in east India

Xinhua, July 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nine persons were killed and 13 others injured by lightning in the eastern Indian state of Bihar on Friday, local media reported.

Lighting struck some of the victims while they were planting paddy saplings on farmland in Kaimur, Nawada and Aurangabad districts, said the Press Trust of India.

Lightning strikes take place frequently in the monsoon season from June to October each year, mostly in northern and eastern India.

In October 2013, at least 32 people were killed in eastern Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand by lightning. Endi
